PURPOSE:To prevent the damage by a laser beam at points exclusive of a processing part by coating a part of the rear surface side of the part to be irradiated with a laser beam or the front surface of a jig holding a work by using fibers consisting of a ceramic material. CONSTITUTION:The fibers 7 of ceramic materials, for example, Al2O3 and SiO2, are inserted into a tubular body 3 so as to come into contact with the inside surface thereof prior to execution of laser beam processing. The tubular body 3 is thereafter irradiated with the laser beam 1 from its front surface, by which the tubular body is cut longitudinally or circumferentially. Generated dross 4 and spatters are, therefore, solidified immediately by the ceramic fibers 7 and the sticking thereof to the points exclusive of the processing part is prevented. The penetrated laser beam 1 is directly absorbed by the ceramic fibers 7 and the damage of the inside surface by the laser beam 1 is prevented. |
