VIDEO CAMERA AND ITS PHOTOMETRY/IN-FOCUS POSITION DETECTING METHOD

PURPOSE:To automatically control the exposure and a focal point in a short time with use of the video signal obtained from a solid state electronic image pickup element through the preliminary photographing. CONSTITUTION:The photometry means 3 and 15-18 integrate the luminance components extracted out of the video signals over the necessary light reading areas to obtain the light reading value. An exposure control means is added to control the exposure value based on the photometry value together with the in-focus control means 3 and 19-22 which integrate the high frequency components extracted out of the video signals for photometry over the necessary photometry areas to obtain the integration value and control the in-focus position, the switch means 3 and 13 which switches alternately the photometry means and the in-focus control means so that the luminance signal components are integrated for the video signals of one of both fields and the high frequency components are integrated for the video signals of the other field, and a control means 3 which controls the in-focus control means to make then perform the integration of the high frequency components and the control of the in-focus position after the exposure value is controlled.
