PURPOSE: To provide a space optical modulator package which is a package for a spatial optical modulator, which realizes efficient and effective communication between a spatial optical modulator and a processor driving this modulator, and has a memory which can be operated with two different data rates and is attached adjacently to the spatial optical modulator. CONSTITUTION: In this spatial optical modulator package 10, the first data rate is the steady-state data rate and requires a minimum number of lines 16A and 16B from the processor to an array 12. The second data rate is realized by memory buffers 14A to 14D which have different input and output data rates and have a capability having a relatively high pin count. The second data rate is the burst data rate, and it is the time required for update with new data in a modulator 12. |
