The connector has a baseplate made from paper-type material, containing a slider. The baseplate is a strip containing two cut-outs. The first (12) is defined by side legs (2a, 2b) and top leg (2c). The second is open at the bottom and is defined by stepped side legs (3, 4). The hole (6) is for the vacuum cleaner hose. Fold lines (8, 10) are used so that the top and bottom sections are folded behind the middle section. Within the sandwich so formed fits the slider whose end stops move between the upper fold line and the steps in the legs, indicated by the dashed line.
