PURPOSE:To reduce operation load in manual speed change by a speed change operation device of an automatic transmission for improving operability. CONSTITUTION:A power unit 3 and a mechanism 4 for disengaging it from an operation link are interposed in the operation link 22-28 for connecting a shift lever 21 to a manual valve 50. The connection disengaging mechanism 4 is connected to the operation link in the shift during a non-traveling position of an automatic speed change to make the power unit 3 inoperative and mechanically transmit the displacement of a shift lever 21 directly to the manual valve 50. In the shift other than that including the manual speed change, the connection disengaging mechanism 4 is disengaged from the operation link to correspond to the position of the shift lever 21 so that the manual valve 50 is operated directly by the power unit 3.
