Method of gas cooling with use of the vortex tube into which the gas is fed through a scroll casing where it is spinned and accelerated, and at the inlet to the tube it is expanded and then separated into peripheral and axial parts, the peripheral part of the flow being led out of the cooler along curved trajectories conjugating with the trajectory of the movement of the gas along the walls of the tube, without generation of standing waves. A gas cooler comprises a scroll casing (1), an expansion chamber (2) and outlets for the peripheral and the axial part of the flow, the outlet for the peripheral part of the flow being provided by curved openings (2) in the wall of the expansion chamber or by a second scroll casing (11). The gas passed through the second scroll casing is joined with the axial flow. <IMAGE> |
