PURPOSE: To provide a method and device for automatically detecting the presence of user of a data processing system. CONSTITUTION: This device is constituted of a phenomenon detection processing, presence detection processing, and question processing. The phenomenon detection processing detects a presence display phenomenon. The presence detection processing analyzes the presence display phenomenon for deciding whether a user presents or someone except the user presents. The question processing applies an interface to the user at a request side, and forms one or more inquiries to be transmitted to the presence detection processing.
