The present invention relates to a mechanical clamping device for the shank (9) of a tool or a tool holder, having a hollow shank-mounting part (1) in which a tension element (4) is arranged, one or more pins (3) acting on the tension element (4), which pins (3) are movable in their longitudinal direction, bores (10) being provided for the pins (3) in the shank-mounting part (1), which bores (10) extend outwards from the hollow interior of the same, and the engagement surface (4a) on the tension element (4) and/or on the pins (3) and their direction of movement being set in such a way that the pins (3) exert a force on the shank (9) in the axial direction during their clamping movement. In order to create a device of this type in which access to the rear end remote from the tool or actuation of the tension element from here is no longer necessary, in which case the precise seating of the shank and thus of the tool connected to the shank is to be guaranteed at the same time, it is proposed according to the invention that the shank-mounting part (1) be designed as a hollow part in such a way that a suitable shank (9) to be drawn in by the tension element can be accommodated therein, that the shank-mounting part (1) be provided with an external thread (11) and that it have a suitable cap nut (2), and that the cap nut (2) have an encircling supporting surface (2a) for the pins (3), which supporting surface (2a) is orientated in such a way that, when the cap nut (2) is tightened in the clamping direction, the supporting surface (2a) presses the pins (3) through the bores (10) into the interior of the shank-mounting part (1) and against the engagement surface on the tension element (4). <IMAGE> |
