<p>The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display having nonlinear resistance elements (14). Liquid crystal is held between a first substrate (20) and a second substrate (26). A first electrode (22) and a second electrode (24) are formed on the first substrate (20), and a nonlinear resistance element (14) is formed in an area in which the first (22) and second (24) electrodes are opposite to each other via an insulating film (23). Light emission means (16) for emitting light to the nonlinear resistance element (14) is also contained. Light is emitted to the nonlinear resistance element area by the light emission means to improve asymmetry of the nonlinear current-voltage characteristic of the nonlinear resistance element (14) for providing improved display quality of the liquid crystal display. <IMAGE></p> |
