A rail anchoring element has a fastening bolt (3) which extends through a plastic spring element (5) and is anchored in the soleplate (6), clamping the plastic element (5) between a rail foot (1) and a support on the soleplate (6). The spring element is designed as an elastic plate provided on its lower side with a downwardly projecting lug (26) which clamps the rail foot. The elastic plate should be made of thermoplastic polyurethane. The varying thickness of different sections of the elastic plate allows variable spring excursions and clamping forces to be set for a rail foot in relation to the reaction forces at the soleplate. The lug, if required combined with other components on the soleplate, secures the bracing construction against rotation and if required against transverse sliding.
