Hydraulic braking equipment control system for large vehicle, e.g. lorry, bus - controls pressure of air fed to pressure converter acting on hydraulic circuit dependent on motor vehicle velocity

The hydraulic braking device (11) acting on a wheel axle (10) has a stator (15) and a rotor (16) which is selectively coupled to the wheel axle via a clutch (13). The hydraulic fluid circuit (21) is acted on by a pressure converter (25) coupled to a pressurised air source (4), in dependence on the velocity of the vehicle compared with a defined vehicle velocity. Pref. respective pressure reduction valves (33,34,93) allow the pressure provided by the pressurised air source to be reduced to two different values, in dependence on the detected vehicle velocity as registered (100). ADVANTAGE - Allows greater braking torque at lower vehicle velocities useful when travelling downhill. Gives good driving feel for actual circumstances.
