Hair dyeing agent comprising a mixt. of one or more oxidation dye precursor from 1,4-diaminobenzene , 1-methyl-2,5-diaminobenzene, a tetraaminopyrimidine and/or a triaminohydroxypyrimidine with 1,3-diaminobenzene, contains 1,4-diamino-2-chlorobenzene. The triaminohydroxypyrimidine is pref. 2,5,6-triamino-4- hydroxypyrimidine. USE/ADVANTAGE - The obtd. dyes have improved stability, partic. towards light. In an example, a basis mixt. comprising 17.5 wt.% cetylstearyl alcohol/sodium cetylstearyl sulphate mixt. (90:10), 1.5 fatty acid alkanolamide/fatty alcohol polyglycol ether mixt. (50:50), 3.0 oleic acid, 3.0 cocosmonoethanolamide, 3.0 stearic acid monoethanolamide , 1.0 sodium laurylsulphate, 1.0 sodium sulphite, 0.5 ammonium chloride, 2.0 egg white hydrolysate, 10.0 ammonia (25%) and complexing agent, stabiliser, perfume and water was prepd. An oxidation dye precursor mixt. contg. 0.35 wt.% 2,5-diamino-1-methylbenzene sulphate, 0.20 resorcinol, 0.02 3-aminophenol, 0.01 1,3-diaminobenzene and 1,4-diamino-2-chlorobenzene sulphate was added to the basis mixt., the obtd. prod. then mixed with hydrogen peroxide soln. (6%) and then applied to samples of human and buffalo hair. The samples were rinsed and dried after 30 mins. and exposed to UV-radiation for 8 hrs. The samples had a shiny medium or ash brown colour, whilst comparative samples treated with a similar mixt. contg. no 1,4-diamino-2-chlorobenzene sulphate had been bleached and had no shine.
