The installation is intended for feeding a linear (filamental) superfluous material element (S) (a weld bead, for example) - which is being separated from a continuous product - to a cutting section (C). Such a section includes a rotary cutter (3), a fixed blade (32), clamping rolls (P1,P2), and a mechanism for handling the superfluous material. This mechanism incorporates a guide wheel (N) at the entry into the cutting section, for guiding the motion of the material element (S), and a wind-on spool (4) for it at the exit from the section. The cutting section (C) with the clamping rolls (P1,P2) is displaceable relative to the path of the material element (S). Its 'open' and 'closed' states correspond respectively to 'not cutting' amd 'cutting' the material element. USE/ADVANTAGE - In continuous production of welded pipes, for example. It simplifies the operation of introduction of the end of filamental superfluous material element (a weld bead) into cutting/winding equipment.
