PURPOSE:To improve storage performance and voltage of a nonaqueous electrolyte battery by adding iron sulfide and iron disulfide to a positive electrode using cupric oxide as active material. CONSTITUTION:When iron sulfide and iron disulfide are added to a positive electrode using cupric oxide as active material, the decomposition of cupric oxide is retarded and parts of iron sulfide and iron disulfide are dissolved and the generated sulfur deposits on the surface of a lithium negative electrode 2 as a film. The film deposited prevents the surface of the lithium negative electrode from the deposition of metallic copper. The adding amount of the binary system of iron sulfide and iron disulfide is preferably limited to 5-40wt% based on the weight of positive active material. |
