A container (I) for the transport and storage of wet or moist articles such as garments comprises at least an outer layer (A) and an inner layer (B), the latter (B) consisting of a non-porous membrane made of synthetic polymer (II). Membrane (B) is 10-25 (pref. 10-15) microns thick and has tensile strength greater than 80 N/mm2 and extensibility (longitudinal and transverse) greater than 300%; pref., (B) is waterproof but permeable to water vapour, and is capable of being recycled. (II) is a polymer contg. OH and oxygen gps., pref. a copolyether-ester. Outer layer (A) is able to absorb sunlight or radiant heat, (B) is covered with a layer of non-water-repellent textile material facing inwards, and the layers are surface-bonded together. (I) can be sealed watertight with an overlapping flap or lid, and provided with ventilation holes, pref. fitted with rainproof covers. (I) is in the form of a rucksack, a bag, a case or a trunk. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method provides a container for wet or damp clothing etc. which enables the contents to dry rapidly, thus minimising the growth of moisture-loving and sweat-destroying bacteria and moulds, and production of the associated odours. The rate of drying is 3-6 times greater than in similar containers without an inner, water vapour-permeable, non-porous membrane.
