Mixt. of polycarbonate and non halogenated solvents - using polycarbonate(s) based on di-hydroxy di-phenyl cyclo alkane units, avoids problems caused by use of toxic halogenated solvents

Polycarbonate mixt. contains 1-99 wt.%, esp. 10-40 wt.%, of a polycarbonate based on substd. dihydroxydiphenyl cycloalkane, and 1-99 wt% of a halogen-free solvent or solvent mixture, and opt other polymers and/or additives. Also claims the use of such a mixt. as a coating, additive component or adhesive additive. Pref. the polycarbonate consists of one or more polycarbonates with a Mw of at least 2000 and contg. the structure (I) where R1, R2 = H, halogen, 1-8C alkyl, 5-6C cycloalkyl, 6-10C alkyl(sic); m = 4-7; R3, R4 = H, 1-6C alkyl; and X = carbon; with the proviso that at least one of R3, R4 is alkyl. The polycarbonate contains at least 10- mol% of the formula (I). The solvent is an aromatic hydrocarbon, a ketone, an ester, an ether, an alcohol or a phenol, and pref. is present in 5-50 wt.% amount. ADVANTAGE - Avoids the problems caused by the use of toxic halogenated solvents.
