The probe comprises an active filter element inside a metal mesh supporting layer which allows the fluid to drain through it while providing a high deg. of mechanical strength, and a base, with two rings to hold the assembly together. The metal mesh supporting layer has wires (10) which are offset at an angle to the generating line (9) of the cylindrical probe, e.g. of 45 deg..
