The vacuum cleaner has a cylindrical drum (2) mounted upright on a base (1). The vacuum unit (3) is mounted on the top of the drum. The drum is divided into two coaxial compartments (2A,2B) mounted one above the other. The lower compartment is mounted on the base and houses a battery (6). The upper compartment has the vacuum unit on the top and encloses a dust bag that is generally cylindrical in shape. USE/ADVANTAGE - Autonomous operation of vacuum cleaner saving operator time lost in cord handling, reducing risk of electrocution from cord deterioration and allowing operation in locations without electric supply.
