The bearing contains magnetisable components which interact with magnetisable components of the body (2) to produce a contactless, stable body position. An electronic controller and coil influence the magnetic force between the magnetisable components according to the output of a sensor of the distance between the body and stator A first electric coil (5) on the stator acts as a position sensor and as an electromagnetic control element in interaction with the magnetisable components of the suspended body. This coil is part of a high frequency measurement bridge contg. a reference impedance (6). USE/ADVANTAGE - Stable positioning of a body in a magnetic field is achieved with a simple, low-cost magnetic bearing of few components.
