A liner hanger setting arrangement includes setting tool (T) which supports a piston (P) for engagement with a tubular member (M) movably supported on the liner (L). At least one cone surface (27) is provided on the member (M). The tubular member (M) is movable by the piston (P) to engage slip segments (26) mounted on the liner (L) to urge the slip segments into securing position with a well bore casing (C). A lock (LM) maintains the cone surface (27) and the slip segments in engaged relation.
