Cross-linking of polyolefins - using 1, 1-di-tert-butyl peroxycyclohexane as cross-linking agent

(Co) polyolefins or olefin graft copolymers or blends thereof, opt. admixed with fillers, foaming agents and/or accelerators, are cross-linked, at 20 to 180 degrees C with the aid of 0.001 to 10, pref. 0.1 to 3 wt.% of 1.1-di-tert-butylperoxycyclohexane (1). The prefd. polymer is EVA copolymer. The cross-linked products are free from objectionable odour, and are not discoloured by (1). Results are reproducible since (1) is not volatile. Used in mfre. of mouldings, cable sheathings, floorings.
