Car-body with hollow thresholds and cross-members - has endless rope inside thresholds and members

The car-body has a passenger space with supporting structure of hollow thresholds and cross-members. A first endless rope or chain under tension (20) is contained inside the thresholds and members. Where side columns and roof beams are included, there can be a second endless rope inside the latter, joined to the first one by ropes inside the columns. Other endless ropes can be contained in the thresholds, columns and roof beam at each side, and at corners the ropes can work in guides secured by distorting supports to the structure, or can run round pulleys on bolts.
