PURPOSE:To form an emitter chip which is easily wettable for various liquid metals, does not react easily and can be used stably for a long period of time by boron carbide or silicon boride or molded body of composite material of them. CONSTITUTION:An emitter is formed by boron carbide, silicon boride or composite material of them. However, the boron carbide may be formed not only by dorthonide compound indicated by expression B4C but also bertholide compound. The silicon boride may be SiB4 or SiB6 and it may be dorthonide or bertholide compound or may be a composite material including them in the desired rate. An emitter chip can be formed by cutting a sintered body formed by hot press molding under the pressurized condition or a single crystal formed by flux method or floating zone method and forming the end portions with radius of curvature of 1-2mum or less with mechanical grinder or electrolytic grinder. |
