In a labelling system, the labels (21) are transported from a magazine (9) to a labelling spot by means of a conveyor band (1) coated with glue by a glueing station (5) at the label (21) receiving spots. The spots of the conveyor band coated with glue are brought into contact with the labels to be transported, so that the label is held by adherence and transported on the spots coated with glue. The conveyor band (1) runs over a dispensing edge (3) at which the label is lifted from the conveyor band and applied on the object to be labelled.
