An electrophotographic toner containing a compound of the following formula (I): <CHEM> wherein each of X and Y which are independent of each other, is a hydrogen atom, <CHEM> (wherein each of A1 and A2 is a hydrogen atom or an electron attracting group, provided that A1 and A2 are not simultaneously hydrogen atoms, R1 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, a dialkylamino group, a diarylamino group, a diaralkylamino group or a hydroxyl group, and n is 0, 1 or 2, provided that when n is 2, the plurality of R1 may be the same or different), <CHEM> (wherein A3 is an electron attracting group, and R1 and n are as defined above), <CHEM> (wherein A3, R1 and n are as defined above), <CHEM> (wherein A3, R1 and n are as defined above) or <CHEM> (wherein A3 is as defined above, and each of R2 and R3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group or a hydroxyl group), provided that X and Y are not simultaneously hydrogen atoms, and Z is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group.
