PURPOSE:To make the device compact and to reduce the device cost by using at least part of an original/recording paper supply opening in common for a paper carrier path in the scanner mode and a paper carrier path in the printer mode. CONSTITUTION:A laser printer is set normally to the printer mode where a picture is recorded onto recording paper and when an original set sensor 41 detects setting of an original, the scanner mode is selected. In the scanner mode, 1st and 2nd carrier roller pairs 42, 44 are driven, the original is carried and in this case, a read section 43 reads the picture. The original whose picture information is read, the same as the case with manual insert recording paper, is discharged to a discharge section by a paper discharge roller 24 through a resist roller pair 21, a transfer means 15, a fixing means 17 by driving the carrier system of the equipment main body 10. The original read by a scanner unit 40 in this way passes through a picture recording section and is carried through the carrier path through which the recording paper is carried. |
