Dispersion-strengthened aluminium alloys.

Dispersion-strengthened mechanically alloyed aluminium-lithium alloys comprising more than 1.5 but less than 3.5 wt % lithium, from 0.4 to 1.5 wt % oxygen and from 0.2 to 1.2 wt % carbon are disclosed, together with methods for their production. The strength of such alloys may be increased by an age-hardening treatment, although the alloys, particular those comprising less than 3 wt % lithium and at least 0.25 wt % carbon may be used without age-hardening.
