FIBROUS FORMED POLYETHER RESIN FOR REINFORCING COMPOSITE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To provide a fibrous formed polyether resin for reinforcing a compos ite material to impart excellent toughness and crack resistance to the composite material without deteriorating the excellent thermal properties and mechanical properties of a thermosetting matrix resin. CONSTITUTION:A polyether resin produced from a phenolic component composed mainly of allyl bisphenol and bisphenol and a dihalogenated diphenyl sulfone and/or dihalogenated benzophenone is dissolved in a solvent and the solution is extruded in the form of fiber and dried by evaporating the solvent to obtain the objective fibrous polyether resin for the reinforcement of a composite material. The product is especially suitable as a structural material for aircraft, etc.
