The picking lever (11) with low mass inertia and high strength, having a hub part (12), an arm (13) and an end part (14), consists of thermoplastic reinforced with high-strength fibres. This is composed of a plurality of layers laid on one another in the form of prepregs or semi-finished products, the layers having different fibre orientations and being essentially parallel to the plane of movement (21). In the arm (13) the longitudinal components of the fibre orientations predominate, with a gradual transition to the hub part (12) and to the end region (14) which have an approximately isotropic distribution of the fibre orientations. Consequently, the mechanical strength of the composite material can be utilised as effectively as possible and be matched to the locally differing load directions occurring.
