PURPOSE: To obtain a method for preventing erroneous reading in an ultrasonic inspection of a nuclear fuel rod and a device therefore. CONSTITUTION: In order to remove mechanical deviation of a fuel rod 21, an alignment guide device 30 for aligning temporarily the fuel rod 21 directly above an ultrasonic probe 14 during inspection is used. There are provided a plurality of parallel elongated guide rods 31 inserted into a fuel assembly 20 prior to the inspection of the alignment guide device 30, a pedestal on which the guide rod 31 supported movably by a support part 32 is fitted, a front side guide member for keeping relative position of the guide rod 31, and a liquid pressure cylinder 37 for inserting or extracting the guide rod 31 into or from the fuel assembly 20.
