PURPOSE:To enhance the durability and reliability of a magnetic head device by improving the durability of the magnetic head and recording medium with each other in a CSS(contact start & stop), and suppressing affixing of the head to the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A groove 2 extending in the relative running direction with a recording medium is provided on that side of a slider 1 which faces the recording medium, and buoyant surfaces 3 are furnished on both sides of this groove, and a magnetic head is installed in such a way that the magnetic gap confronts to this buoyant surface 3. In manufacturing a magnetic head device of such a structure, the polishing process is conducted while the temp. of a surface plate 13 to polish the buoyant surface 3 is made below the room temp. |
