PURPOSE:To prevent sediment above from flowing into a side part excavator at the time of excavating a wide tunnel. CONSTITUTION:A shield excavator 4 is provided with a cylindrical rear drum 5, a cylindrical front drum 7 with a rotary cutter 6 provided at the front face, a connecting part 8 for connecting the front drum 7 in the bendable state to the front end of the rear drum 5, a gutter 12 rigidly fixed to the side face of the connecting part 8, and a side part excavator 11 provided with a rotary cutter 10 at the front face and mounted across the side face of the rear drum 5 and the side face of the front drum 7 from the outside of the gutter 12. Sediment above thereby reaches the tunnel bottom part through the gutter 12 without flowing into the side part excavator 11, so that the upper part of a wide tunnel is prevented from collapsing. |
