Preservative comprises (preparing) a new multicomponent inclusion cpd. (I) of anionic, zwitterionic, cationic and/or polyfunctional surfactants and hydrogen peroxide in urea crystals, with a compsn. of 50-90 wt.% urea, 5-20 wt.% surfactants and 5-30 wt.% hydrogen peroxide obtd. by crystallisation out of a common aq. soln.. The prod. may be used as perservative for solns., emulsions, suspensions or ointments. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) synergistically increases the action of other antimicrobials and achieves complete freedom from spores in alcoholic prepns. and maintains this during (re)filling and emptying. (I) protects domestic chemicals, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics from microbial attack. (I) has a broad spectrum of sporicidal activity. the formulations are storage stable
