Measurement of tracking and camber of vehicle wheel axles - recording markers on rotating wheels using synchronised video cameras, image evaluation of marker positions

The method involves recording characteristic regions of the wheels (4) with video cameras (2) and determining the positions of the axles w.r.t. the cameras by computer evaluation of the images. The recorded regions are optically recordable markings mounted on the wheels off-axially. Each marking is recorded by two synchronised cameras from different directions as the wheels rotate so that the markings appear in different positions in successive images. ADVANTAGE - The method enables highly precise quantitative results to be achieved using simple equipment.
