PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of durability of a friction engaging apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A control device for automatic transmission is provided with an output characteristic increase decision means 2 which decides change-over of engine E output characteristics from low output characteristics to high output characteristics with change of driving condition, and a pressure level changing means 3 which changes pressure level to the level according to the fixed high output characteristics before engine E output characteristics changes over to the fixed high output characteristics. As the pressure level of an automatic transmission A already become high when the output characteristics changes to the high output characteristics, a friction engaging apparatus 1 does not slip excessively and its durability is improved. |
