PURPOSE:To fit a snap ring surely without applying an axial thrust force on the snap ring when the snap ring is fitted into a groove of a shaft. CONSTITUTION:A projected portion 15 is provided on a jig 13 so as to face a bearing housing 5. A snap ring 11 is set on the jig 13, and a guide portion 2 of a shaft 1 is inserted into the snap ring 11 by advancing the jig 13. Then, as the jig 13 is advanced, the diameter of snap ring 11 is expanded along the guide portion 2 and moves toward a groove 4. The projected portion 15 abuts on a housing body 6 of the bearing housing 5 because of the advance of the jig 13 and makes the housing body 6 move against an elastic force of a spring 9. When the snap ring 11 comes to the position of the groove 4, it contracts and fits into the groove 4. Since the projected height H of the projected portion 15 is larger than the thickness T of the snap ring 11, the snap ring 11 can contract and fit into the groove 4 surely without being affected by an axial thrust force produced by the jig 13 and the bearing housing 5. |
