A facade element (10) has a very high stiffness and is thus particularly suitable for use in sky-scraper facades which are exposed to very high suction and pressure stresses. The facade element (10) is designed as a composite structure of at least one substantially flat, visible facade element (12) and of a profiled sheet metal (14) linked to the visible facade element (12) by its areas facing the visible facade element (12).
