The connection surfaces (2) of the body (1) are drawn by electroless selective metallisation with Pd seeding around the edge of the glass for attachment of a hot-seal connector (5) by pressure of 10 to 25 kg/sq.cm from a die carrying an electrically conductive alloy heating element (4). If the flat cable is drawn over a second edge also, the circuit can be applied by tape automated bonding to the back of the display. ADVANTAGE - Chip-on-board displays can be mfd. with contact mouldings smaller than 0.5 mm and without widening of display.
