WORD SELECTING METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC SPELLING CORRECTION DEVICE

PURPOSE:To select the most proper candidate word by storing plural candidate words in each entry of a dictionary for candidate generation. CONSTITUTION:When an English text is inputted in a CAI system 18 for English conversation education, an understanding part 13 uses forecasted data of speech stored in a forecast memory 16 to analyze the meaning of the input text and generates meaning data. A control part 14 uses this meaning data and control data 17 to determine contents to be spoken by the system and stores forecast information forecasted for the next input in the forecast memory 16. A generating part 15 converts determined speech contents to an English text and outputs it. If an input word including a misspelling is inputted to a spelling error correcting part 7 from the understanding part 13 of the CAI system 18 for English conversation education, an automatic spelling correcting function part 19 retrieves a dictionary 11 for candidate generation by its character string and stores the obtained candidate word in a candidate word memory 8.
