PURPOSE:To realize an air cell excellent in the discharging performance and storage characteristics by equipping it with a positive electrode which is a cylindrical air electrode of four-ply structure furnished with a gas diffusion layer, in particular free of any junction. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical air electrode is embodied in a four-ply structure consisting, from the inside, of a catalyst layer 1, current collector layer 2 of metal, gas diffusion layer 3, and oxygen selective transmitting film layer 4, wherein the catalyst layer 1 is formed by winding a catalyst layer sheet having the oxygen gas reducing ability on a jig in the form of a column while the current collector layer is formed by knitting metal wires into the periphery of this column. Further thereover the gas diffusion layer 3 free of junction is formed by means of extrusion molding, and the oxygen selective transmitting film 4 is wrapped as the outermost layer. Then the columnar jig is drawn off to yield cylinder of four-ply structure. |
