The valve includes a valve body with an internal closure member at the intersection of a chamber (14) in communication with the compressed or liquefied gas and of an outlet passage (22) for gas. In order to be able to raise the pressure of the liquefied gas as desired without thereby increasing the force with which the closure member is applied to its seat under the effect of the pressure of the gas, the side of the closure member (26) opposite the seat (20) includes a zone having a section equal to or slightly less than that of the seat (20) and which is isolated in leaktight fashion from the pressure of the gas.
