PURPOSE:To automatically position hinges in assembling a trunk lid. CONSTITUTION:A trunk lid assembling device for an automobile is equipped with an assembling jig G. Jig G assembles a trunk lid 2, on which hinges 20 as an opening/closing center are previously assembled, in position-held state from the above and at a proper position of a car body 1. Hinge positioning units 26 can partly be inserted downward from a speaker hole 25 formed on a package tray 24 in the rear part of the car body and position the hinges 20 in a prescribed assembly attitude.
