ANTISTATIC-TREATED WOVEN FABRIC

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject fabric capable of dissipating or bleeding static charges by weaving a fabric using the blended yarns of polyol ester fibers with polypropylene composition containing a specific antistatic agent as warps and wefts and coating one side of the woven fabric with a specific thermoplastic polymer. CONSTITUTION: A fabric is woven using the warps and wefts containing axially oriented crystalline polypropylene composition, polyol ester fibers of 10-28C monocarboxylic acid and 0-2 wt.% antistatic agent (based on the weight of the polypropylene) and one side of the woven fabric is coated with a thermoplastic polymer composition containing polyol ester fibers of 10-28C monocarboxylic acid and 0.2-8 wt.% antistatic agent (based on the weight of the thermoplastic polymer) to obtain the antistatic woven fabric capable of dissipating or bleeding immediately the generated static charges to the atmosphere without grounding. Furthermore it is extremely preferable that electrically conductive fibers coated with metal are blended. This antistatic fabric is preferably used as flexible containers for bulk materials, etc.
