PURPOSE:To provide the subject microorganism belonging to the genus Flavobacterium, having an ability to produce an enzyme lysing fungal cell membrane, having a wide fungal cell membrane-lysing spectrum, and having a lytic ability also to Ascomycetes and Zygomycetes fungi. CONSTITUTION:A specimen sampled from natural field such as soil or leaf mold is suspended in aseptic water. The suspension is diluted in a different dilution degree, coated on an Aspergillus oryzae cell membrane-suspending medium and sebsequently cultured at 30 deg.C for 4 days. The cell membranes of the cultured fungi are lysed to form a clear halo, from which the objective Flavobacterium SP.NO-1 (FERM P-12526) exhibiting the highest value of the cell membrane-lytic activity is obtained. |
