In a working method for a workpiece mounted on a carrier and conveyed on a conveyor there is provided alongside the conveyor a movable base which is movable in the direction of movement of said workpiece, and a robot mounted on the movable base is used to perform a predetermined work operation on the workpiece. The method comprises steps of successively detecting the carrier and clamping the carrier by a clamping device provided on the movable base, and positioning by a positioning device provided on the movable base the workpiece on the carrier in three orthogonal directions with respect to the movable base and holding the workpiece in that position, and thereafter operating the robot. |
