PRODUCE FOR PREPARATION OF POLYESTER

The polyester is obtained by reacting dimethyl terephthalate as a acidic component and ethylene glycol as a glycol component. Expecially, this method is characterized by (1) lowering the internal temperature of the reaction tube 2-10 deg.C for 5-30 minutes after ester-exchange reaction and (2) forming the particle having an average particle diameter of 0.57-1.69 μm. The resin has an excellent surface and electron conversion characteristics, and is useful for the base film of magnetic recording tape.
