PURPOSE:To increase the transfer speed and to improve the transfer efficiency by transferring plural files in parallel and retransferring them from a transfer interruption position based on file division information for the occurrence of error. CONSTITUTION:Two computers A and B are connected to communication lines STN, PBX, or the like through MODEMs M. Computers A, B are provided with file transfer programs 20 so that files on disks 22, 23 can be transferred to each other. When a transfer command from the computer A to the computer B is issued, both programs are started, and plural files are transferred from the computer A in parallel. If error occurs during transfer, it is detected, and data is transferred from the interruption position after restoration based on already transferred packet information. Thus, the transfer speed is considerably increased, and data is efficiently transferred even after restoration.
