According to the invention, in the winder/unwinder, especially for a jigger, a tensioning (lifting) roller (7) may oscillate about a reference position and is rigidly fastened to the rod (21) of a constant-pressure pneumatic cylinder; an electrical position sensor controls the position of the roller (7). In the event of positional deviation, an electrical circuit (19) actuates the frequency variator connected with a speed-reducing (gear) motor to the motor for driving the unwinder shaft (3), so as to bring the roller (7) back into the reference position which corresponds to the set-point value of the tension for a given pressure in the cylinder (20). <IMAGE>
