The kitchen waste from a dish washer and the like, passes out as ground material with water which is flocked. The flocked matter is separated from the water by a sieve or filter. Pref. a flocking agent at the flocking stage, with a neutralising agent and a selected auxiliary flocking agent according to the need to float or precipitate the flocking. Floating matter is supported by flotation, and the sieve or filter action for the floating and precipitated sludge is without pressure, and both sludges can be filtered or sieved together. The waste water to be flocked is collected in a buffer stage. The emulsion is cracked by cracking chemicals at the buffer stage. The flocking and auxiliary flocking agents are of vegetable origin. Edible calcium is used as the flocking agent. Air is excluded at the sedimentation and the sieve/filter stages. The waste water from a dish washer is treated in a separate flocking and separation stage, in a buffer container. A further chemical treatment is applied after flocking sludge separation, and the separated sludge is sieved/filtered together with the sludge from the first flocking stage. ADVANTAGE - The system recovers matter from the waste water which does not load the sewage disposal, and gives matter which can be recovered such as for fodder.
