PURPOSE:To enhance the charging/discharging characteristic and cycle characteristic of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. CONSTITUTION:Lithium or a material capable of storing/desorbing lithium is used as a negative electrode active material constituting a negative electrode 3. A laminar structure composite oxide expressed by the formula: Lix MyLzO2, (where M represents transition metal elements, and L represents one or more elements selected from the group consisting of the non-metallic elements and metalloid elements in the groups IIIB, IVB, and VB of the periodic table, the alkali earth metal elements, and the metal elements such as Zn, Cu, Ti) is used as a positive electrode active material forming a positive electrode 5. By this, polarization (internal resistance) during charging/discharging operation is decreased with the result that the effective charging/discharging capacity is increased. Thus, large-current charge and discharge becomes easy and, in addition, the cycle degradation is improved. |
